: 3 different shades of Opal :

comments: Okay, so I found these stock photos of raw opals and I loved the colours and I wanted to do something with it but for the longest time I was stuck-- because I didn't want them to come out too similar. However as I thought about it, I decided to do three different takes, as they were three different stock photos. One was blurred to showcase an opal's shine, another set showcase gentle iridescense and the other I was going for raw and uncut. I hope I conveyed that with the textures.

Glad you like them! I try to make icons textures that I would use and if I can't use them or dont want to then that is a definite problem. A lot of people make these really weird and busy textures and I am like "but would you use these?"

I want to try creating some textures from stock photos.. like gems and jewelry for white backgrounds sort of like that l'archel icon with the emeralds. Because I would totally use textures like that

These are lovely, and I will certainly bookmark this page so that whenever I make icons, I will remember to come back and see if there are any good ones which would be good to use as a base icon. (I have a resources/credits page on my fanart community and will certainly update it to make sure I give you proper credit if using any of these textures)
