Procrastinating on my Tit4Tat assignment and listening to today's new release, Dreamerie by FlowerLeaf. (Kimara, I think you might enjoy The Wake!) But! I have also been reading! ...Dante Alighieri.

This is the 700th anniversary edition, translated by J.G. Nichols. It's ... surprisingly hand-hold-y. Like, each canto is prefaced with a prose explanation of what happens in the canto (spoilers!!!!), and adds footnotes in support of readers who can't count (e.g. "So in the smallest circle, at the centre" is footnoted as "The ninth and last"; Inferno XI) and who can't keep track of pronouns (sooo many occurrences of "Named Person, did this and that, and lo, a slightly long description! Is he¹ still alive?" with a footnote on "'He' refers to Named Person"). Judas Iscariot is given an explanatory footnote. ("Who betrayed Christ") One would think that anyone operating on even a pop culture osmosis level of Christianity would realize that the Judas dude being specially punished in the hell for betrayers is probably the one who betrayed Jesus.

Anyway! I have read Inferno, and just started Purgatorio. The translation is eminently readable, with transparent verse. (I guess I'd hoped for a slightly more showy take to mine for fic titles, but I'm not complaining.) Also Dante and Virgil's relationship, though probably considered normal enough by the standards of the period, comes across as very homo by present ones: Dante is incredibly appreciative of Virgil guiding him through the way, gets carried around by him, and kisses his cheeks with gratefulness on multiple occasions. Not really that many thoughts, but. Reading. Classics. I fully expect to go WTF at Purgatorio and especially Paradisio, because uhhh not a Christian at all lol, but hey, at least I can say I read them.

I've always wanted to watch Berserk, but never got around doing it. Believe it or not, when I was a teen I read the comics, well, not all of them, but some of the volumes that a friend lent my sister. Was I too young for that crazy violent shit? Sure. Would I read it anyway? Of course hahaha.

So today, I started watching the anime... and oh boy, are we in for a ride here. Don't let me get started on how much of it we can find in Dark Souls, because I guess everyone knows by now. But holy cow (I just typed holy coq and was tempted to leave it like that, but let's behave a bit here).

Anyway, while watching episode 2, I got the urge to make some icons. And I was amused by the fact that I can literaly take a screenshot with "imp paint" and paste it on photoshop from Netflix. We could not do this shit with regular videos before! (before meaning eons ago lol). So yeah, I got me some new icons of these pretty creatures.

Just like I did with this post, I thought it would be great to share today's icons, since they do not qualify for a proper batch to post at my graphics community lol. So here they are! Feel free to take, use, and leave me a comment if you also love Berserk ♥

I've always had an obsession with Casca. That character blew my mind when I was a teen. Love Berserk urgh help.

At all. Like, it started with somewhat good news, then it all slowly went a bit downhill. I was so sad yesterday, I didn't touch the frontend course at all. But today, despite still feeling bad, I managed to finish the HTML part successfully. Now I'm in the CSS part, and I'm actually learning a lot of stuff I didn't know how to do before, so that's great! I'm very scared with starting JavaScript, but we'll see. I'll let you know how that goes, hopefully next month.

Besides that, I've changed both my profile and my layout. The banner I'm using for the profile is new, I'm trying to make new stuff here and there when I feel inspired. However, the current layout is not new, I made this for myself and used for a loooong time before. It's back now I guess lol. I love Please Save My Earth ♥

Anyway... there's not much more to tell right now. I'm going back to reading some more theory on CSS, and then go to bed. As I said, my mood's not been great. I hope things sort out somehow, and I can go back to my usual self soon. I hate feeling like this.

It's so great I immediately bought it (despite the fact I generally only buy albums on Bandcamp), and then vidded it, thus listening to it 198374938 times on repeat, and I still want to listen to it on repeat! I love this.

I may or may not end up buying my own domain AGAIN. After years of letting my last domain rot to death. The spark came from studying frontend development, as you may have read in my previous posts, but also because I found the personal site of a girl who also let her own domain rot, but came back in 2025 after many years of inactivity. And... that resonates lol. So, who knows. I may do it. Maybe just start with Neocities haha! Maybe go all the way and buy my domain. But I would need a name and I'm very undecissive. So...

Well, not in ages, but you know what I mean. I haven't created anything in Photoshop in a looong while. I feel rusty! So I thought I would make a bunch of icons, since that's the easiest type of graphic to get my skills dusted. And... what, how do we make those anymore? HAHAHA. Like, muscular memory saved me from collapsing over my laptop. What is this alternate reality in which I don't know how to icon anymore? LOL.

So I'm starting with a set of FFVIII icons because I can't remember what I like anymore. No, seriously, in the past I used to always want to icon something, to always know exactly what to make, which images to use. Right now, my brain feels old. So I'm using a topic I will never get tired of, ever.

I will edit this post to show you something I made today, later. Or maybe to link you to the actual icon post if, and only if, I finish something. Haha this is so absurd. Who am I anymore? I feel like I stole this account from someone else, and literally try replicating someone's personality. Please, tell me I'm not alone in this :D...

Lately, I've been craving for my own personal space again. Not just physically, although that too, but on the web. It's been ages since I had my own website, and I totally forget about updating this blog because it feels quite lonely, with all the social networks and apps nowadays (I sound like an old woman despite being 35, blame it on having experienced the 2000's internet hahaha).

Anyway, I thought I might as well just come back at blogging. I plan on creating a new layout for this journal, now that I'm into coding again. Which brings us to the next topic: I finally started studying frontend development by myself, using freeCodeCamp. My goal is to pass all certifications, and finally be able to make a job change. More on this later, I guess.

My current curriculum looks like this, I'm well into the course and I think I will finish the Responsive Web Design Certification this month. Then, it's Javascript time! I'm as excited as I am nervous about it. Or scared. Or both.

Anyway! This seems like a good start for my comeback. Let me use my Roland Orzabal "books" icon, since we are talking about studying hahaha. I love it. I simply love it.

(Am I radically redefining the definition of Monday? Why yes, yes I am. Any day can be Monday if you believe hard enough!)

Today's challenge was slightly difficult with my commitment to new music – it generally takes time and repetitive exposure to learn all the lyrics – so my options were some songs I'd vidded, basically ... and the one I like the most, I want to use next week! So then I remembered this joyous number about the awe and wonder of childhood, of the thrill of stories, of wanting to be taken for a ride, and realized I do know all of the lyrics, because how could I not? It is perfect.
